According to its All for Your Smile strategy, Guangqi Toyota plans to expand its product line to include over ten models covering a variety of segments by 2020. The joint venture is specifically focusing on expanding its small and medium automobile offerings. According to its development strategy, small and medium vehicles will account for over 40 percent of the JV's sales in the future. Among its new models, Guangqi Toyota has plans to bring over updates to its popular Yaris L and Levin. The JV will unveil several new models in the small and medium automobile segments over the next three years to further suit the taste of Chinese consumers.
Furthermore, Guangqi Toyota's first model for its new own brand, Leahead, will debut next year. Details are still scarce, but it is confirmed that the model will be an electric vehicle.
Guangqi Toyota is also looking to increase the size of its sales network. The guiding principles for Guangqi Toyota's network is respect and compassion, in order to better serve an increasingly diverse and individual market. The JV is looking to expand to third- and fourth-tier markets. Its network is expected to double in size by 2020, with small personalized 4S dealers and satellite shops making up 85 percent of its total network.
Guangqi Toyota's goal is to be the most successful enterprise in its home region of Guangdong. JV President Kazuhiro Kobayashi is confident that models like the successful selling Levin will allow the manufacturer to maintain annual sales growth of over ten percent. The JV's annual production and sales volumes are expected to reach one million units by 2020.
