Shanghai, October 17 (Gasgoo.com) With the all-new City car on the way, Guangzhou Honda will discontinue production of the 2008 City model, which is now put on special offer in the company's 4S stores in Beijing. The discount reaches 15,000 yuan ($2,200) and some versions are out of stock, said xinhuanet.com today.

Most of the 2008 City cars now on sale in Beijing are the 1.5L manual and automatic comfort editions, but the 1.3L and 1.5L manual editions have been sold out. Other 1.5L City cars offer a discount of up to 15,000 yuan, with the final price falling to somewhere between 91,800 yuan and 111,800 yuan. These editions of the City will not be produced any more in China.

The new-generation City model is coming to the global market, and meanwhile the China-made new City is set to debut at the 2008 Guangzhou auto show next month. Guangzhou Honda will produce the new Honda City sedan based on the 2008 City. Honda dealers said that ordering for the new car will start at the end of this year.

The all-new City is reportedly powered by 1.5-liter and 1.8-liter engines, and both engine types will be mated with the 5-speed autonomous transmission. It will be similar in size to the Civic of Dongfeng Honda, another Chinese partner of the Japanese carmaker.
