Haima set to compete in mid-sized car market

Shanghai, November 27 (Gasgoo.com) After working for many years in the economical car market, FAW Haima Automobile Co (short for Haima Auto) is seeking to enter the mid-sized car market in the future, Wu Gang, general manager of Haima Auto Sales Co was quoted by Beijing Times as saying.

Wu said the automaker is to expand its product lineup based on A-class platform. Haima Auto will see dense upgrading on its models between the end of this year and the first half of 2010, Wu declared.

Last week at the Guangzhou auto show, Haima Auto unveiled its all-new Huandong hatchback, which will go on sale early next month.

The automaker's third plant in Hainan now is still under construction. The new facility will focus on making economical cars and will build 2.0L engines. Upon completion of the third plant, Haima's annual capacity will double to 300,000 units.
