Renault recalls 1,222 cars for transmission flaw

Shanghai, November 27 (Gasgoo.com) Renault AG is recalling a combined 1,222 sedans to fix potential problems with the automatic transmission, China's quality regulator said Wednesday.

The recall include Megane cars produced between Jan. 23, 2006 and May 1, 2006, Megane CC cars produced in July. 11, 2006 and some Laguna cars build between Feb. 6, 2006, and Feb. 8, 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said.

It did not say whether any accidents or personal injuries were linked with the defect.

Consumers will be notified by letter or telephone to get their cars repaired at Renault's service centers free of charge. Notification started on Nov. 26.
