Nissan China to launch Infiniti G37 Coupe soon
Shanghai, December 3 (Gasgoo.com) Nissan China plans to launch a new model in the Chinese market on December 18 and it may be the Infiniti G37, a luxury Coupe car whose China launch has been delayed from September, said xinhuanet.com today.
The Infiniti G37 Coupe is the first model of the latest Infiniti G37 series and is first equipped with Nissan's all-new 3.7L VQ37HR engine. This G37 Coupe will fulfill Nissan's goal of introducing at least five Infiniti models to China within two years after this brand landed in China in mid-2007. The Infiniti G37 Coupe was originally scheduled for sale in China along with the Infiniti EX35 on Sept. 19, but its launch was delayed to the year end.
Nissan Motor sees China as the core market for the Infiniti brand's global strategy. The Chinese market will play a key role in Nissan's "GT2012" plan to double last year's sales of Infiniti globally by 2012. The company believes that Infiniti sales in the Chinese market will not be affected by the financial crisis and the country's luxury auto segment will keep booming in 2009 despite the sales tax hike on 3.0L-plus cars.
In July 2007, Infiniti FX45, FX35 and G35 cars were first introduced to the China market, followed by the Infiniti M35 luxury sport sedan in December. Their sales in China reached 1,550 units in 2007 and nearly 3,000 units in the first half of 2008. And the new-comer Infiniti EX35 and G37 Coupe are expected to boost the Infiniti lineup’s sales further in China.
The Infiniti dealerships in mainland China will increase to 13 by the end of 2008. The sales of imported Nissan cars, such as Fuga and Quest, have been fading out of China, giving way to Infiniti brand models.
