Ford China sells 211,000 passenger cars in '08
US auto giant Ford Motor Company totally reached a passenger car sales volume of 211,000 in China in 2008, lower than the number in the prior year, an executive of Ford Motor (China) Ltd. said in an interview with the First Financial Daily, a Chinese economical and financial paper, on Jan. 13.
The 2008 figure did not include Ford's commercial vehicle sales in the country, the executive added. In addition, Ford took an auto sales volume of 306,000 under the Ford-branded family in China last year, far higher than 216,000 (excluding Mazda cars) in 2007, according to Ford Motor (China) Ltd.
The new figure did not include already sold Rover and Jaguar cars, the executive explained. This time it included Transit van sales from Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd., a Ford joint venture based in Nanchang, Jiangxi, south China.
