20 new models to highlight Shanghai auto show

Shanghai, February 1 (Gasgoo.com) The 13th Shanghai International Auto Show will be held on April 22-28 in Shanghai. Many Chinese and global automakers and their Chinese ventures are set to showcase their new car models at the first big event in China's auto market this year, said xinhuanet.com today.

Up to date, there have been at least 20 China-made and imported new models confirmed to be displayed at the 2009 Shanghai auto show. The 11 locally made models are mostly of global brands, and the other nine are all-new or 2009 / 2010 models that will be imported to China or will be China-made in future.

China-made new models to be displayed at 2009 Shanghai auto show:

1. Shanghai VW NMS -- new midsize sedan)
2. Dongfeng Citroen C5 -- large family car
3. GAIC (Guangzhou) Toyota Highlander -- midsize SUV
4. FAW Toyota RAV4 -- compact crossover SUV
5. GAIC (Guangzhou) Honda Odyssey -- minivan or "large MPV"
6. Beijing Hyundai i30 -- new midsize hatchback
7. SAIC Nanjing MG6 -- hatchback sister of the Roewe 550 sedan
8. Chery S16 -- mini sedan, known as the Chery Wow
9. BYD F5 -- midsize sedan
10. BYD M6 -- BYD's first flagship MPV
11. Lifan 320 -- a 5-door lookalike of BMW MINI Cooper

Imported new models:

1. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo -- the ultra mini-car by Mercedes-Benz
2. BMW MINI One Clubman -- the all-new entry-level model in the Clubman range
3. Volkswagen Scirocco -- a sports coupe
4. Volkswagen CC -- four-door "coupe," VW's CLS-inspired Passat, dubbed the "CC"
5. Volkswagen Magotan R36 -- Passat R36 known as Magotan R36 in China
6. Fiat 500 -- the Fiat 500 was the rave retro hit of 2008 in Europe
7. Volvo XC60 -- a Volvo SUV concept
8. New Lexus RX -- Lexus' new generation of crossover 2010 RX
9. Acura RDX -- Acura's first compact crossover SUV
