Yuchai, Guangzhou Auto to tie up for hybrid bus

Shanghai, March 2 (Gasgoo.com) Guangzhou Auto vice president Jiang Ping has recently visited the Yulin production base of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd, China's leading diesel engine manufacturer. After experiencing Yuchai's urban hybrid bus model sample, Jiang said this vehicle's powertrain and fuel efficiency are distinctive sales points, and hoped that Guangzhou Auto can have long-term strategic cooperation with Yuchai, xinhuanet.com said today.

The Yuchai urban hybrid bus model is powered by the diesel engine and electricity. In speeding-up, the electric motor as the power source will support the engine in keeping its strong dynamics; in slowdown, the electric motor will recycle the energy. This hybrid powertrain can reduce fuel consumption by 20%.

In May 2008, Yuchai received the first batch of orders for this hybrid model and started its production.

Guangzhou Auto has two commercial vehicle companies -- a bus company and a joint venture with Hino Motors. The two companies both believed they have laid sound foundations for further cooperation with Yulin in other aspects than the project of providing vehicles for the 16th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou in 2010.

Guangzhou Auto and Yuchai Machinery have agreed to put their long-term strategic cooperation at the top of their agendas.
