Toyota RAV4 rolls off production line in Tianjin

Shanghai, April 2 (Gasgoo.com) Toyota RAV4 SUV rolled off the assembly line at FAW Toyota Automobile Co in Tianjin earlier this week, reported the official Xinhua news agency.

The RAV4 is a mini SUV which shares the same platform with Corolla. This SUV will be powered by 2.0L or 2.4L engine and equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. 

The model will compete with Honda's CRV in the Chinese market and Toyota plans to sell 50,000 units of the RAV4 this year.

At present, Toyota is selling the imported four-door version of RAV4 at a starting price of 310,000 yuan ($45,362).

The current imported model is the third-generation RAV4 with standard and luxury versions, both powered by the same 2.4LVVT-I engine as Camry.

FAW Toyota has not unveiled the price of the impending Chinese-made RAV4 SUV.
