Shanghai, June 4 (Gasgoo.com) Anhui province in east China recently released its auto industry boost plans, including the ambitious target of producing one million vehicles annually by 2011, xinhuanet.com reported today.

Anhui province is home to two major Chinese carmakers: Chery Auto Co. and Jianghuai Auto Co. (JAC). The provincial government is reportedly mulling creating an auto-making giant by merging the two companies, and will establish up to four world-class auto-parts manufacturers.

The province has decided to build five to seven auto production bases by 2020 which are expected to focus on making new-energy vehicles of independently-developed brands.

It aims to upgrade the auto technologies and develop more than 30 passenger vehicle models and 20 commercial vehicle models. And 10% of all these models will be hybrid, all-electricity and alternative-fuel vehicle products, and over 80% will be eco-friendly.

Of the one million vehicles to be produced annually by 2011, about 20% will be exported to overseas markets, and sub-1.6L passenger cars will account for 50% of the total sales, according to the province's auto boost plans.
