Shanghai, June 22 (Gasgoo.com) The Die Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of FAW has recently broken ground for building a new plant, which is scheduled for completion in June 2010, xinhuanet.com reported today. The new facility in northeast China's Changchun city will be a modernized stamping, welding center to make 400 standard sets of stamping dies annually.

The new plant is built to boost FAW Group's die-manufacturing technology and capacity. The project has an initial investment of 309 million yuan ($45.2 mln) and will be fitted with 149 sets of modern technical equipment.

Upon completion in 2010, the new factory will have an annual production capacity of 400 sets of stamping dies, 3.5 million medium- and large-size stamping auto-parts, 2.2 million small stamping auto-parts, and 900 welding holders.

Qin Huanming, vice general manager of FAW Group and chairman of Die Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of FAW, noted that die-manufacturing is a yardstick for measuring a carmaker’s development and a country's auto industry because 90% of the auto-parts come from die-manufacturing, whose technology has now become the core competitive edge of automakers.

As a key subsidiary company to support FAW Group's independent development, the Die Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of FAW will continue to play its crucial role by creating new brands, making high-end products, and boosting its R&D capability and corporate competitiveness. The new plant is built to meet these needs.
