FAW-VW H1 sales grow 21% y/y to 320,000 units

Shanghai, July 8 (Gasgoo.com) FAW-VW, a joint venture between FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, said its sales in the first six months grew by 21% year on year to 320,000 units, leading China's passenger car makers in sales of the first-half year, xinhuane.com reported.

From January to June, FAW-VW's output hit 290,000 units, while sales exceed 320,000 units. It posted an output of 60,069 units in June, setting a new record of the company's monthly output.

Output of its famous brand Jetta has been above 20,000 units for three months in a row, with nearly 25,000 Jetta cars sold in June. And output of its new Bora reached 11,079 units last month.

The company has made car models of various sizes available to meet the needs in different market segments. Its 1.6-liter engine is widely used on its Jetta, new Bora and other brand models for them to benefit from the government's sales tax incentives for small cars.

FAW-Volkswagen general manager An Tiecheng said that the company would stride toward higher goals in the second half of 2009.
