Ford launches driver education program in Taiwan
Shanghai, July 9 (Gasgoo.com) Ford Motor Co. has launched a driver education program in Taiwan, in cooperation with the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation, the island's road traffic safety committee, automobile safety association, and a safety education center, China Post reported today.
Beginning in August, Ford Lio Ho will conduct the program, called "Driving Skills for Life (DSFL)," which will offer training sessions every weekend at the Hsinchu Safety-Educational Center. The driver training sessions will be provided for free to all attendees with valid Taiwan driver's licenses.
The DSFL training has been customized for Taiwan to reflect the local driving environment and road conditions, and will mix classroom learning and practical training to help increase awareness and safe driving techniques, and to teach skills that can help drivers improve fuel efficiency.
"Ford is committed to being a leading advocate for road safety and environmental protection in Taiwan. The Driving Skills for Life program is dedicated to promoting driving techniques that result in improved safety, improved fuel economy and a better environment," said Jeffrey Nemeth, president of Ford Lio Ho.
"Road safety is a serious issue in Taiwan, and we are confident that the Driving Skills for Life program will help raise awareness of safe driving practices among Taiwan's drivers," he said.
In early June, Ford Motor launched its global DSFL driver education program in mainland China, together with its joint ventures Changan Ford Mazda and Jiangling Motors. The DSFL training sessions will be conducted through August at 62 Ford dealerships in 22 mainland Chinese cities.
