Chery Auto to export cars to Australia this year

Chery Automobile Co. will begin exporting cars to Australia this year, the company's president, Yin Tongyao, told Trade Minister Simon Crean yesterday, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Chery may also invest in or buy auto parts makers that were "doing it tough in Australia," the Herald quoted Yin as saying.

Crean traveled to China this week to promote Australia's auto industry in regional manufacturing centers.
