Geely to launch Emgrand EC718 in mid-August
Shanghai, July 23 (Gasgoo.com) Geely Auto has recently announced that its first Emgrand model EC718 is expected to be released into the market in mid-August, with a starting price of 80,000 yuan ($11,700), Gasgoo.com said today.
According to Geely's brand planning, Emgrand sub-brand features "luxury, steadiness and power." The EC718 shows active dynamic appearance with simple vivid shape. The model is equipped with brand-new 4G-N series D-CVVT gasoline engine to provide power with exhaust dual-variable valve timing system. The emission can meet the Euro VI standard.
The Emgrand EC718 is the first "global model" developed independently by Geely. It is regarded as the symbol for Geely strategy restructuring. The model is designed according to European and American standards. Famous DPECO from Korea is responsible for the design and development of this model while Magna Styer from Europe takes the task to approve it.
The EC718 is ready for mass production in Geely's plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang province in east China. Its new production line adopts molds from Japan Fuji and the painting line is similar to Brilliance BMW with advanced international automation.
Geely insiders said that the hatchback of EC718, i. e. EC718-RV, will be released first next month. The 1.5L or 1.8L Geely D-CVVT engines will be used for the EC718, which will come with five-speed manual or automatic transmission, maximum 102Kw power and 172Nm torque.
To broaden its vehicle range and price spectrum, Geely has created three sub-brands: entry-level Gleagle, mainstream Emgrand (Dihao), and premium Shanghai Englon (Yinglun) which also has the controversial Geely GE, a Rolls-Royce Phantom-like model.
