FAW, Audi plan to expand production capacity

FAW and Audi have announced that they plan to expand production with the addition of a new factory which is set to produce the current Audi A4, and the soon to be introduced Audi Q5.

The new factory will totally satisfy Audi’s plans for expansion in mainland China, and will be able to four different production lines, and will aid Audi in their bid to produce 200,000 cars per year in China.

Audi, like many other automakers, has placed China at the top of the ladder when it comes to growth. In 2008 Audi sold 155,510 cars in the Asian market, China accounted for 111,810 sales in Asia, which is a year on year increase of 17.08%. In the first half of this year.

In the first half of this year, Audi sold 66,866 cars on the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong market, which is an increase of 11%, Audi has seen a 28% sales rise in the first half of 2009, and a 1.3% rise in June.
