Geely says Sept car sales double, Jan-Sept up 42%
Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd (0175.HK) said on Monday that it posted record sales of 32,053 cars in September, more than double the same month last year and up 40 percent from August.
This brought Geely's sales for the first nine months of 2009 to 217,334 units, up 42 percent from the same period last year, it said in a statement.
Geely, whose parent is considering bidding for Ford's Volvo Car brand, aims to sell 250,000 cars this year. The nine-month sales represent about 87 percent of its target.
The total sales volume exceeded management expectations and the strong domestic sales momentum continued in early October, a spokesman said in the statement.
Signs of recovery were seen in the group's export sales.
Geely exported 2,612 cars in September, the highest level since the outbreak of the global financial market crisis in October last year, he added.
