Tianjin FAW Xiali Oct sales up 10% to 16,080 units

Shanghai, November 10 (Gasgoo.com) China's economical passenger car maker Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd. saw its sales in October rise 10% year on year to 16,080 units, Xinhua News reported today.

The automaker, based in northern Chinese city of Tianjin, produced 17,600 vehicles last month, a 13% increase from a year earlier, the company said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange today.

Combined vehicle sales volume in China's jumped 72% in October to 1.22 million units from a year earlier, after gaining 78% in September, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.

Tianjin FAW Xiali aims to build up China No. 1 manufacturing base of own-brand economical sedans. The company bought 100% stakes of its neighboring FAW Huali in April 2008 for expansion.

Last year, the company produced approximately 172,369 economical cars. Its models include the Vizi, the Vita, the Vela and the Xiali.

The carmaker also operates a joint venture with Toyota Motor -- Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., which makes and imports Toyota vehicles for the Chinese market.
