Shanghai, March 23 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto recently launched its Fulwin hatchback, a sister car to the Fulwin sedan, China Car Times reported. The hatchback, priced from 55,000 yuan ($8,050), will compete with the popular Brilliance FRV.

The Fulwin hatch is equipped with a 1.5 ATECO engine from Chery's own engine series with the options of manual and an automatic transmission. This Fulwin model will help boost the Chinese automaker's small car sales.

Chery's small car line-up currently consists of the Chery Fulwin (hatch and sedan), the Chery A1, the QQme, QQ3, QQ6, and the Riich M1, Riich X1 series of cars. All the eight small cars are fighting for spotlight in Chery showrooms.

Sources said Chery is working hard on another small car to boost up its already full small car segment. The car is likely a model of the Riich range, which currently only has two small cars, the M1 and the X1.

Chery Auto aims to boost its car sales by up to 80% to 900,000 units this year, with at least 17 new models to be launched. Sales by Chery hit 500,000 units last year, up 40.5%.

The company will launch over 17 new models under its three brands, including the M14 sports car and Fulwin hatchback of the Chery brand, G3 and G6 of the Riich sub-brand, X5 and H5 of the Rely sub-brand.
