Chery Auto steps into forklift production

Chery Automobile, one of China's largest homegrown auto producer, has stepped into the forklift manufacturing, following its entering into ship-building industry the year before last. The first batch of forklifts will come off the production line soon.

The newly founded firm-Wuhu Ruichuang Forklift Ltd.Co, whose chairman is Lu Jianhui, vice-general manager of Chery Auto Co., is auto producer's first trial into this industry.

The forklift to be built recently has made several major adjustments which makes it more adapted to low-carbon trend. The initial plan is 900 units this year with sales volume of 700, while next year the production and sales number will be lifted to 3,000 and 12,000 in 2014.

It's learned that, apart from passenger and business-purpose vehicles, mini-cars, vessel building, machinery and facility manufacturing, Chery also plans to tap into industry of agricultural machinery, in an effort to form a diversified manufacturing pattern.
