FAW-VW busy producing 6th-generation Golf cars

FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. (FAW-VW), a China-based venture of Germany's Volkswagen AG, is busy producing 6th-generation Golf cars now, which are popular with Chinese customers.

An insider from the venture disclosed that more than 20,000 6th-generation Golf cars had been ordered and the number was still going up. FAW-VW dealers in most regions cannot fulfill their orders immediately, and some customers have to wait for more than two months before they finally get their cars.

A general manager for the venture's sales arm stressed that their production lines had been running at full capacity for several consecutive months. The venture will strive to make full use of the capacity so that customers could get their orders fulfilled as soon as possible.

In October 2009, FAW-VW launched the 6th-generation Golf in China, the world's largest auto market, according to earlier reports. Some analysts wander whether Chinese drivers would like to extend their welcome to such a well-known sedan model. Now, the popularity of the model has given the answer.
