Shanghai, June 29 (Gasgoo.com) The Chery Fresh (Chery A1) Mini car assembled in Taiwan was recently unveiled by local automaker Prince Motors to consumers, the Taiwan Economic News reported today. The car is developed by its mainland Chinese partner Chery Auto.

Prince Motor said that the company has received orders for more than 200 units of Chery Fresh. Prince Motor has launched both the Fresh (1,300cc) and Apolo (2,000cc) sedans, both developed by Chery Auto and locally made by Prince Motor for the Taiwan market.

The Apola is a mid-sized sedan while the Fresh is a sub-compact equipped with a 1,300cc gasoline engine and automatic transmission. The Fresh will be priced at US$12,476 in Taiwan, making it the cheapest automatic-transmission car on the island.

Chery Auto will also sell a mini multi-purpose van (MPV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Taiwan after launching the 1,300cc Awin mini commercial van in the third quarter this year. Chery is also likely exports its vehicles assembled in Taiwan to the Southeast Asian market.

With the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed today between Taiwan and the mainland, both sides' auto partners will produce different models to achieve better economy of scale.

Taiwan's major automaker Yulon Motor has also started assembling and selling the tobe M'cars developed by mainland partner Geely Auto. The M'car is derived from the Geely Panda mini model.
