Shanghai, July 12 (Gasgoo.com) Before signing the cooperation agreement with French automaker PSA Peugeot-Citroen last week, Changan Auto had expanded the annual capacity of its Beijing base and Anhui base to 500,000 units each. The upgraded Beijing base will mainly produce Changan's self-developed sedans and new energy vehicles, the company said last week.

Reportedly, the first phase of the expanded Beijing base will have an annual capacity of 250,000 units, and the new facility is likely to be located in Doudian Town, Fangshan District, Beijing. Moreover, the existing Beijing facility will manufacture special vehicles, Changan sedans and new models.

Besides, Changan Auto has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with eastern China's Anhui provincial government for construction of a new facility. After the construction is completed, the Anhui base will have a planned capacity of 500,000 units, with the capacity of the current Changhe facility included. Changan will produce models of several brands, such as Changan, Hafei, Changhe, etc. in the base, Changan President Xu Liuping said

After its recent acquisition of Hafei Auto and Changhe Auto from Aviation Industries of China (AVIC), Changan now has 21 vehicle plants across the country. In addition to the four production bases in Chongqing, Hebei, Jiangsu and Jiangxi, it also has five more facilities in Heilongjiang, Anhui, Shanxi, Guangdong and Shandong.
