Geely Group plans to sell 2 mln cars annually by 2015
Shanghai, July 15 (Gasgoo.com) Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd. plans to sell two million cars annually worldwide by 2015, a spokesman of the private Chinese carmaker said today at an auto fair, Xinhua News reported.
"Geely hopes to roll out more new car models faster and more efficiently," Victor Young, PR Director of Geely Group, said at the opening auto exhibition in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province. The company has reorganized its R&D teams to help design more than 40 car models annually before 2015, he added.
Geely was recently approved by the European Union regulators to buy Volvo Car from Ford Motor. The deal may be completed in the third quarter. Geely aims to make and sell 150,000 Volvo cars in China per year by 2015.
In the first half of 2010, Geely vehicle sales grew 42.1% from a year earlier to 195,734 units, indicating that the biggest private Chinese carmaker was on track to achieve its full-year target of selling 400,000 vehicles.
Geely has put 24 cars on show at the 7th China Changchun International Automobile Fair which opened today. Over 900 cars from more than 100 auto manufacturers are displayed at the week-long event.
