Shanghai, July 30 (Gasgoo.com) China's auto giant FAW Group announced not long after April's Beijing Auto Show that it will launch four own-brand Red Flag (Hongqi) models by 2012 and all the models will be using the H platform developed by its own engineers and be designated as the super-luxury cars.

Now, we finally got some news on the first Red Flag model: the CA7600L limousine, which FAW is now seriously considering producing and which is likely to be priced around 4 million yuan ($58,500).

Judging from the spy shots, we could see that the Red Flag CA7600L limousine is based on the 2005 HQD concept car. At over 251-inches long, 79-inches wide, 67-inches tall, and with a 153-inch wheelbase, the CA7600L limousine is larger in every dimension.

Moreover, the car weighs more at 5,985 pounds, but produces slightly less power from its 6.0-liter V-12 engine - just 402 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, compared with the Phantom's 453-horsepower, 531 foot-pound 6.7-liter lump.

However, the Chinese automaker earlier said that its first Hongqi model will carry a self-developed four-cylinder turbocharged engine with direct injection and two V6 engines, which will match a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission made by its engineers. so it may turn out to be a surprise, after all, this time-honored brand used to serve only the senior Chinese leaders.

The Red Flag CA7600L limousine is expected to be positioned above the Audi A6 model and to mainly target the government purchases.
