Dongfeng Nissan to break into China's top 3

Shanghai August 19 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Motor Co. Ltd, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Corp. revealed to the media that it has made a full preparation and determined to break the traditional top three structure formed by Shanghai VW, FAW VW and Shanghai GM.

Dongfeng Nissan maintained a fast increase in the past seven years. An insider from Dongfeng Nissan said that Dongfeng Nissan is far from satisfying with its fourth position in the auto industry. It aims to become the best passenger car company at home. Dongfeng Nissan is the first one to pose a challenge to the three top carmakers.

In the first half of this year, Dongfeng Nissan achieved cumulative sales of 331,053 units, ranking fourth among passenger carmakers and accomplishing 55% of its annual sales target of 600,000 vehicles.

A reporter learned that Dongfeng Nissan is now well positioned to compete with the above top three carmakers in capacity reserve. Shanghai VW, FAW VW and Shanghai GM all announced that their annual sales will reach 1 million units respectively in 2012.

Not to be outdone by those three carmakers, Ren yong, vice president of Dongfeng Nissan said that in 2013, ten years after the establishment of the JV, Dongfeng Nissan is capable of becoming an enterprise whose production and marketing capacity will exceed 1 million units.
