Dongfeng Auto H1 net profit surges 203.3%

Dongfeng Automobile (600006) said first half revenue and net profit attributable to shareholders surged 46.87 percent and 203.25 percent year-on-year to 9.68 billion yuan and 382 million yuan, respectively, reports 163.com, citing a company filing. Earnings per share hit 0.19 yuan.

Dongfeng Automobile sold 148,000 vehicles in the first half of the year, up 56.4 percent year-on-year.

Sales of light trucks climbed 55.8 percent year-on-year to 116,000 vehicles in the first half, while sales of SUVs and MPVs increased 128.3 percent year-on-year to 17,500 vehicles.

Engine sales in the first half of 2010 soared 140.1 percent year-on-year to 119,000 engines.

Meanwhile, bus and bus chassis sales slipped 12.4 percent year-on-year to 11,000 units.

Dongfeng started construction of its new energy bus project in Xiangfan, Hubei province on August 18. Investment for this project will hit 650 million yuan.

The project will achieve a production capacity of 2,000 vehicles and 5,000 chassis by the first half of 2011.
