Nearly 50% of FAW-VW models qualified for 3000-yuan subsidy

Shanghai August 27 (Gasgoo.com) China has recently added 61 vehicle models to the cars eligible for green car subsidies, and FAW-Volkswagen is definitely a big winner from the 3000-yuan subsidy with nine models under the Bora, Golf, Sagitar and Magotan brand listed in the catalog, Tianfu Morning Paper reported Friday.

The 61 models in the catalog are petrol- or diesel-powered passenger vehicles, including hybrid and dual-fuel vehicles, with displacement of 1.6 liters or less and fuel consumption 20% lower than the current standard.

Buyers of the above nine models can now get a subsidy of 3,000 yuan ($443) per unit from FAW-VW dealers, mainly helped by the German automaker's latest TSI+DSG technology.

Volkswagen has been working on the most effective way to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions. With its advanced powertrain system as well as its Chinese joint venture's current product lineup, more models are expected to qualify for the Chinese government's generous subsides.
