Dongfeng Nissan to introduce self-developed auto brand Sept 7

Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle will produce its two millionth car on September 8, which marks the seventh anniversary since the joint venture was established in June 2003, reports 163.com. On that day, Dongfeng Nissan will unveil a self-developed auto brand, according to the report.

Dongfeng Nissan’s self-developed auto model will be based on its TIIDA sedan, but will be approximately 20,000 yuan cheaper, according to The Beijing News.

Nissan Motor's chief operating officer does not expect Dongfeng Nissan’s self-developed vehicles and the company's existing models to be in direct competition with each other.

Dongfeng Nissan will become the third sino-foreign auto maker in China to have its own auto brand.

Shares of Dongfeng Automobile (600006) gained 4.86 percent to close at 5.82 yuan yesterday.
