Shanghai September 9 (Gasgoo.com) FAW-VW Automobile Co., Ltd., a passenger vehicle joint venture between FAW Group Corporation and Volkswagen Group, sold 85,000 vehicles in August, up 26% from previous month, thanks to government subsidies to promote fuel efficient vehicles, according to data released by the National Passenger Vehicle Market Information Joint Committee (NPVC).

Apparently not influenced by the traditional off-season for auto sales, VW-brand sales in the country totaled 62,000 vehicles in August, while sales of the Audi brand and the flagship Volkswagen CC sedan beat 22,000 units and 3,500 units respectively.

The launch of Volkswagen CC meets Chinese consumers' strong demand for high-end models very well, industry insiders said.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Bora reported sales of 17,000 units in the month, maintaining its leading position in the segment, especially the Bora 1.6L.

The all time hot Volkswagen Jetta broke through the 20,000 units sales mark in August. The Magotan, Sagitar, Golf and other brands all had a better performance in China as well.
