Shanghai September 14 (Gasgoo.com) First Automobile Works (FAW) recently announced that it has completed construction of the second sedan plant and will start producing the Besturn cars there in the fourth quarter this year, and meanwhile more Mazda cars will be made in its first sedan plant, Beijing Business News reported Tuesday.

With the second sedan plant going into operation, FAW-Mazda will be able to ease capacity constraint of several models in its first sedan plant but still can meet only 90% market demand, the joint venture's Marketing Minister Pu Hongsheng said. At present, many models such as the Besturn B50 and B70, Mazda 6 and Mazda Ruiyi are being made in the first sedan plant.

FAW-Mazda plans to sell 150,000 vehicles in China this year, including 90,000-100,000 units of Mazda 6, 40,000-45,000 units of Mazda Ruiyi and some imported models. The company will achieve the sales target with no doubt as it has recently reduced its September production target to 21,000 vehicles from the previous target of 22,000 in July and August.

Apart from the Mazda 6 and Mazda Ruiyi models, the company will likely import Mazda 8 to the Chinese market. Introduction of a SUV model is still under negotiation. FAW-Mazda is also considering bringing in the new energy-saving technology in 2014 and apply it to all Mazda models.
