Dongfeng Motor sales rise 44% to 1.9 mln units in Q1-Q3

Latest data from Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. (DFG and SEHK: 0489) show that the leading carmaker sold 1.9013 million vehicles in the first three quarters of 2010, rising 44% from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the company produced 1.9018 million vehicles, hiking 46%, being the only company among the top four Chinese carmakers to get output and sales volume that top the level of last year.

Thus, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM) overtook China FAW Group Corporation (CFGC) and temporarily ranked the second place among Chinese peers in terms of sales volume.

From January to September, DFM sold 1.417 million passenger cars and 484,300 commercial vehicles, leaping 42% and 52% respectively. The company's board secretary predicts that it will face no difficulty to fulfill the sales target of 2.22 million vehicles in the full year.

In the first nine months, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA), Dongfeng Honda Automobile Company, Dongfeng Yueda KIA Motors Co., Ltd. and Dongfeng Yuan Vehicle Co., Ltd., joint ventures under DFM, obtained fast growth without exception.
