BMW 1-series Coupe and Convertible to be launched in China soon
Shanghai November 2 (Gasgoo.com) The BMW 1-series Coupe and Convertible will be launched in Shanghai on November 15, BMW China said without disclosing the models' configuration, Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.
It is the first time for the German automaker to import its BMW1-series models to the Chinese market. According to an earlier report from China Car Times, the BMW 1-Series models may be produced in China within the next few years at BMW's venture with Brilliance Auto. Currently the BMW 120i (MT/AT) and BMW 130i (AT) are sold in China's domestic market as imported cars.
The BMW 1 Series Coupe stands for emotion, adrenaline and intensity. The coming models could be BMW 125i/135i both using the straight six-cylinder petrol engine, or BMW 120i equipped with the four-cylinder petrol engine, or BMW 118d/120d/123d carrying the four-cylinder diesel engine.
The BMW 1 Series Convertible employs the direct petrol injection and two turbochargers, as well as the active steering and dynamic stability control (DSC) systems. The overseas models also adopts the global positioning system (GPS), Sources did not say if the Chinese models will remain the same.
