Dongfeng Motor mulls overseas production bases
Shanghai November 8 (Gasgoo.com) China's indigenous automaker Dongfeng Motor is mulling over plans to establish commercial vehicle production bases abroad, extending not only to co-operation in technology but capital level, the Beijing Times reported Monday, citing relevant person in charge at Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company.
Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, expects to export more than 6,500 vehicles this year, an increase of over 200% from last year.
The Company has already built KD plants in Iran and Malaysia, is currently doing preliminary market research in Turkey and South Africa and will likely start local production of commercial vehicles in the two countries later.
In the first three quarters of this year, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle posted a 74.32% year-on-year growth in auto sales to 233,000 units, and meanwhile saw sales of its medium and heavy-duty trucks jump 82.19% from a year earlier to 195,000 units.
