Volvo Trucks inks deal with Swedish Biathlon

Volvo Trucks Sweden has signed a new sponsorship agreement with the Swedish Biathlon Federation for the new truck.

The new truck designed for the team's ski-wax specialists will be unveiled for the first time at the World Championship in Ostersund, Sweden on 1-5 December 2010.

The new truck represents a major improvement for the Swedish team's ski waxing specialists, who previously used minibuses for the long transport distances between competition venues in different parts of Europe.

This season, the team will visit seven countries stretching from Finland to Italy. Their truck, a Volvo FH with a 13-litre engine, is equipped with Volvo's Globetrotter cab, which offers considerable comfort and allows the team to arrive refreshed and relaxed, said the company.

Volvo Trucks is also supplying a trailer which the ski-wax specialists equipped to suit its specific needs, it contains all the equipment that they need to do their job in a focused and efficient way.

Volvo Trucks Sweden public relations director Merril Boman said, the biathlon is an immensely popular sport throughout Europe, through this cooperative agreement, they will reach out to a broad audience via TV and forge good relationships with both new and existing customers at the various competition venues.
