Peugeot EX1 electric concept car unveiled in China

Shanghai December 13 (Gasgoo.com) Peugeot unveiled last week its EX1 electric concept car at the Taipingsi military airport in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. During the test by professional drivers, the all-electric car accelerated from 0-100km/h in only 3.58 seconds, nddaily.com reported Monday.

The EX1 reportedly is equipped with two electric motors, with each mounted on its front and rear axles and a combined horsepower of 250kW (125kW each), and constant maximum and immediately available torque of 240 Nm to the front and rear. The car also features the four-wheel drive system.

The two-seat roadster is 90cm high and 1.77m wide and has adopted the Peugeot styling codes that were seen on the SR1, and is powered by high-performance lithium batteries. Under its water-drop shaped hood, adaptable solar chargers obtain energy from the sun.

Apart from the solar panel roof, the EX1 uses two steering handles that contain a single-pinion electric power steering (EPS) system from Nexteer.

The French brand has initially changed people's driving habits with a non-steering wheel - drivers can control the car with two joysticks, which feels like driving an airplane or playing video games.

Single-shell body made from carbon/manufactured honeycomb composite material has optimized the weight and stiffness for every part of the frame for the EX1.
