FAW Group rolls out 1 millionth own brand model

Shanghai December 29 (Gasgoo.com) FAW Group Corporation, a state-owned auto manufacturer in China, rolled out its 1 millionth own brand model on December 22, marking the Group has entered the fourth stage of entrepreneurship - "self-branding and brand-building", Chengdu Business Daily reported Wednesday.

The model's rolling off assembly line also signals FAW's production of own brand vehicles has increased by 32.5% compared to 2009.

FAW, which has been in cooperation with Volkswagen, Toyota and Mazda, has multiple self-branded models including the Besturn, Jiefang, Jiabao, Weizhi, Xiali, Senyang, etc.. Of which the FAW Jiefang J6 and Besturn B70 are representatives of high technology and highly quality models.

The automaker sold 199,000 vehicles in the first ten months of this year. The Besturn B70, based on the Mazda 6, was ranked first in the J.D.Power Initial Quality Rankings 2010, as an entry-level high-end car, and ranked highest in its segment in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2010 China Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study as well.
