Geely eyes 2 mln car sales in 2015

Shanghai January 13 (Gasgoo.com) Geely Holding Group, Volvo's new Chinese owner, aims to boost both its vehicle output and sales to two million units in 2015, Chengdu Business Daily reported Thursday.

Plans for the year 2011 are to launch a number of major models, R&D of which has been basically completed at present.

The Zhejiang-based automaker will put on the market nine new models this year including the next genearation Englon SC5-RV (an economic sedan) and its crossover version the SX5, Geely's first SUV model the EX7, two MPV models the Englon SV5 and Gleagle GV5, Gleagle GC3 and GC7, as well as Englon SC6 and SC6-RV, along with the redesigned Freedom Ship, King Kong, Golden Eagle and Vision models, and others.

Meanwhile, Geely will launch a slew of models equipped with automatic transmissions supplied by Australia's Drivetrain Systems International (DSI), which it acquired in 2009.

December 2, 2010, Geely reached a global strategic alliance agreement with Faurecia Group and Zhejiang Limin Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture in China. Through the combination of Faurecia's leading auto parts technology and world-class quality products, Geely's advantage on cost control and vehicle development, as well as local auto parts manufacturer Limin's good cost control capability, Geely will join the ranks of truly world-class interior products in no time.
