Audi January sales up 22.6% to 95400 units
Reuters (Frankfurt) - Volkswagen's (VOWG_p.DE) premium brand Audi (NSUG.DE) saw global sales rise 22.6 percent to 95,400 cars in January, making the month its best January on record due to "significant double-digit growth in all regions".
Audi said on Tuesday sales in Germany were up 14.8 percent in January 2011 compared with the year-earlier period, largely thanks to strong sales of the new Audi A1 model and continuing strong demand from corporate customers.
The luxury auto maker continued to see positive growth in both China and the United States. Sales in China were up 32.1 percent year-on-year in January, while sales in the United States climbed 20 percent compared with the year-earlier period.
"Based on the current order situation, we expect a strong first quarter in 2011," Audi board member Peter Schwarzenbauer said in a statement.
