FAW to construct new logistics center in Jilin
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 22) - State-owned automobile manufacturer FAW Group, most known for its joint ventures with international brands such as Toyota and Volkswagen, announced that it will be constructing a new automobile logistics area in its home province of Jilin, 163.com reported today.
The new logistics center, located in Gongzhuling near the country's main railway route, will reportedly be responsible for the storage and transport of FAW-VW vehicles. FAW will complete transfer of all FAW-VW logistics related services to the new center by the end of the national Twelfth Five-Year Guideline (2011-2015). The center will also provide logistics services for the FAW Changchun Fengyue production site, whose production of FAW and Toyota branded vehicles has already reached 400,000 units per year.
According to the reports, the first phase of work on three square kilometers is expected to be completed between 2013 and 2014, which would be equivalent to a storage capability of 100,000 vehicles. The second phase of construction would begin soon after, adding an additional two square kilometers of storage space.
