Geely to further micromanage its sub-brands

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 28) - Geely is to continue its brand restructuring, with plans to place its MK and MK2 models under its 'Shanghai Englon' brand in place, The Beijing News reported today. They are currently sold under Geely's own brand name.

Geely underwent brand restructuring last year when it released its Gleagle, Emgrand and Shanghai Englon subsidiary brands last year. The company made a further commitment to the new strategy when it later announced that Geely would stop selling automobiles under its own name, and move existing models to its sub-brands. The decision was met with both confusion and controversy throughout the English-language press.

Outside of minor changes to badges on the inside and outside of the vehicle, the largest change to the models will be that they will be sold via Shanghai Englon dealerships.
