Dongfeng Yueda Kia to open third factory, increase production to 300000

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 5) - Dongfeng Yueda Kia's has finally begun the planning process towards its Nanjing production site, autohome.com.cn reported today. Plans for the new factory, located in Nanjing's Jiangning Economic Development Zone, are currently undergoing approval.

The new factory, which is to become Dongfeng Yueda Kia's third production site, is expected to have a production capability of 300,000 vehicles after construction is completed around 2012, bring the manufacturer's total vehicle production capability to 730,000 cars. Additionally, the physical location and design work are already completed.

Presently Dongfeng Yueda Kia has two factories capable of producing 130,000 and 300,000 vehicles respectively. Among the two, the first factory is primarily responsible for production of the Sportage and Rio, while the second factory takes care of the rest. With the automaker's sales constantly rising, the decision to open a third plant is necessary.
