Dongfeng Yueda Kia to establish new own brand

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 23) - Kia senior executives announced that Dongfeng Yueda Kia has already began internal discussions regarding the development of a new own brand, Economic Observer News reported today. The own brand would be established next year at soonest.

According to an unnamed source within the company, Dongfeng Yueda Kia has already held several rounds of talks on the topic. While unable to provide any specific details, the source was quoted as saying that Kia recognized widespread demand for new economically priced models.

Dongfeng Motor, Kia's Chinese partner, has been relentless in its pursuit of erecting new own brands. In addition to the company's own branded Fengshen S30 sedan, Dongfeng's new Luxgen brand, made in partnership with Taiwanese manufacturer Yulon Motor, will come to the market soon. Furthermore, Dongfeng Nissan is also currently in the process of establishing a new own brand, while Dongfeng Honda and Dongfeng Peugeot are also currently discussing making similar moves.
