Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 24) - FAW-Volkswagen will begin inspection of their Kumho-made tires, www.chinanews.com reported today. The news comes in wake of a CCTV report accusing Tianjin-made Kumho tires of having severe safety risks.
According to Gong Xingbo, FAW-VW's director of public relations, confirmed that the manufacturer used a total of five different types of Kumho tires for seven of its models. Mr. Gong added that the tires came from Kumho's Nanjing and Changchun plants.
FAW-VW's purchasing and quality assurance departments have already sent engineers to the factories in question to begin inspection. Mr. Gong said that the results would be made public very soon.
FAW-VW assured that it would adhere to the strictest quality control standards when it came to inspecting parts from automotive suppliers. Mr. Gong stated that if there was found to be any question with the tires, FAW-VW would cease cooperation with Kumho Tires.
