Beijing Hyundai and others to recall 75000 Kumho-equipped cars
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 11) - China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine reported today that Beijing Hyundai, Dongfeng Yueda Kia and Great Wall Motor will be recalling a total of 75,000 cars equipped with Kumho-manufactured tires. The tires in question fail to meet the Administration's standards and may contain severe safety risks.
The bulk of the recalls, 63,588 vehicles, come from Beijing Hyundai, whose announcement covers Elantra, Elantra Yuedong, Accent, NF Sonata, Tucson, Accent Verna, Sonata MoInCa and i30 models produced between mid-2008 and January 2011. The other vehicles to be recalled are as follows: the 2008-09 year Kia Cerato (6,419 units), the 2011 Kia Rio (788 units), the 2008 Great Wall Florid and Voleex C30 (4,685 units combined).
The vehicles in question are being recalled in compliance with the Provisions on the Administration of Recall of Defective Auto Products. The manufacturers will conduct free inspection and replacement of the Kumho-made tires.
