Nissan president: Aim to increase China car sales to 1.15m in 2011

Dow Jones Newswires (Shanghai) - Nissan Motor Co. (7201.TO) aims to increase its vehicle sales in China by 13% to 1.15 million units this year, President and Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn said Tuesday.

Last year, Nissan's China car sales rose 35.5% to 1.02 million units, surpassing sales of 908,570 vehicles in the U.S. to become the Japanese auto maker's largest market, the company said in January.

Nissan will continue to invest in China to close the gap between demand and the company's capacity, Ghosn said at the International Automobile Industry Exhibition in Shanghai. The company will double its capacity to nearly 1.2 million units by 2012, he added.
