Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 10) - FAW Volkswagen's upcoming own brand is set to be called Kaili, the Beijing Times reported today. The name originally came up in a recently approved national Ministry of Industry and Information Technology report, which FAW-VW confirmed the other day.

According to the report, the first model registered under the name will be a pure electric sedan, on which there is currently no information available. Industry insiders believe that the news is of great importance to FAW-VW, as it is tantamount to the government giving the go ahead for production to start at the joint venture's Foshan factory. VW has shown its intent in converting its line-up to electric vehicle, with the Jetta, Golf and New Bora all planned to come in electric variants.
