Dongfeng Nissan own brand vehicle to be produced in Zhengzhou

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 23) - Dongfeng Nissan has decided to produce its own brand vehicles at its Zhengzhou factory in Henan, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported today. Zhao Jiancai, deputy governor of Henan province and mayor of Zhengzhou, confirmed the news.

The joint venture signed an agreement of cooperation with the city of Zhengzhou last September, selecting the city to be its third production site. After completion of the factory Dongfeng Nissan began producing the Nissan X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs there, with monthly production surpassing 10,000 in March of this year. The site's total first quarter output exceeded 45,000 this year, helping Dongfeng Nissan set its quarterly sales result of 190,000 units.

Dongfeng Nissan unveiled its first own brand vehicles, the Venucia (pictured), at April's Auto Shanghai 2011. The vehicle is reported to hit the market early next year. The JV will also reveal its next own brand vehicle next year.
