FAW currently not considering manufacturing Audis at new factory

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 13) - According to sources within FAW Group, the manufacturer is currently not considering producing Audi automobiles at its new production site in Foshan, Guangdong, the Beijing News reported today.

FAW is reportedly still discussing options with its partner Volkswagen. According to the inside source, FAW would first like to concentrate on building VW vehicles, such as the seventh generation Golf (pictured), with Audi production to be carried on later.

"Audi's production lines are very different from VW's," the source said.

FAW has recently gained approval to build a site in the city, which will reportedly concentrate on building compact and subcompact vehicles. There is also hope that domestic production of fellow VW brand SEAT will take place at the site in the future.
