Dongfeng Nissan getting ready to bring over Nissan Leaf

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 14) - Dongfeng Nissan has already begun preparations for domestic production of the Nissan Leaf pure electric hatchback, the Beijing Morning Post reported today.

"We have already finished preparatory work for the Leaf," confirmed Dongfeng Nissan CEO Fumiaki Matsumoto. "We hope that we can cooperate with the government and suppliers to bring over the Leaf as soon as possible," he said, adding that he believes the car would lead the domestic EV market.

The Nissan Leaf (pictured) has already been pulling in tremendous results overseas, with over 1,142 units already sold in North America, pulling ahead of its rival electric the Chevrolet Volt in only four months since its release. Nissan has been fighting hard to match demand for the car, which has already become the undisputed EV for North American buyers.
